When Jesus said, 'It is finished' and breathed His last breath, the first fruit of His saving sacrifice were Roman Centurion and Roman soldiers. They were the first to witness and officially pronounce Him dead and they were the first to worshipfully testify that He was the Son of God.
How come that the brute and sadistic Romans turned from torturers to worshipers?
What made them change?
What did they observe that made a deep impression, so much so that they became not only sympathizers but also worshipers of Jesus?
Also, as Jesus breathed His last breath, what were the immediate effects of His death as recorded by the gospel writer Matthew?
