Matthew 26:73-75; 27:3-5; 45-46

Our identity is bound up and inextricably connected to special persons (parents, spouse, siblings, friends...) or communities (church, company, club) in our lives. The more important a person or a community, the more they define the core of who we are. When we face serious relationship challenges, we immediately face an identity challenge or crisis. Peter faced an identity crisis after he denied Jesus.

He felt every bit of heavy guilt on his soul because of it. He felt that his relationship with Jesus was over. The breakdown of their relationship took him to a full-blown identity crisis. The same with Judas with the exception that Peter repented and accepted Jesus' forgiveness while Judas killed himself.

We all realise that every relationship is tested and everyone either went through, or is going through or will go through an identity crisis due to relationship challenges. There are four things we will be covering in tomorrow's sermon at Mt Gravatt Church.
